Source indicates that due to the recent high rates of fatality of road traffic accidents, those who are caught Jay Walking in the fast lane would be paying fine worth of 1000 Rials should they got injured and those who dont get injured would pay 2000 rials. The cameras which are installed bellow the bridge would be used as a proof.Another sources informed Oman News that such system is being used in UK, the pedestrian should learn to make use of bridges and if they dont care about their lives, atleast they should care about others!

Mr. Volcano, the Omani hacker, targeted several Danish websites improvising his message regarding the latest incident where one of the Denamrk Newspaper published offensive pictures of Prophet Mohammed Peace be Upon Him.

Below are the known websites that has been hacked by Mr.Volcano, with the same exact message in every website. On every websites he ends his message by stating "Admin Don't Worry ... Muslims are not Terrorists !! ... No Files Deleted Only Editing you Index.*" And who said Hackers were bad boys!

A person approached two individual who were waiting for their turn to pay RO 640 fee for their government given land. That person told them that he would help them by filling in the application. So he did, and he wrote in the applicationa discount of RO 100.So obviously the two naive persons were happy and gave their RO 540 each to the Con Man. And you know the rest........Where would the Con Man Strike Next... Watch out

Four oil discoveries for Petroleum Development Oman

Petroleum Development Oman (PDO) has announced the the discovery of four oil fields. The discoveries, in the north at Ufuq and Dafiq, and in the south at Sakhiya-South West and Mamour, will contribute to the sustainability of PDO's oil production.The discovery of Ufuq and Dafiq, located near the Lekhwair oil field, validates the extension of the productive Upper Shuaiba reservoir rock formation that PDO¿s geologists and geophysicists had proposed after the discovery of the Malaan field in 2004.

The finds hold out the prospect of further discoveries in the formation, and the current drilling campaign will see up to 16 additional wells drilled over the next 18 months. The finds are also noteworthy in that both discovery wells were contributing to PDO¿s oil production within two months of being found.The two discoveries in the south - Sakhiya-SW and Mamour- will be brought on stream as part of the ongoing Harweel field development. The reservoirs of both fields are deep and under high pressure; they are amongst the oldest oil-bearing reservoirs in the world, formed during the pre-Cambrian era some 500 million years ago.His Excellency Nasser bin Khamis al Jashmi, Undersecretary at the Ministry of Oil & Gas and a member of PDO's Board of Directors, had earlier intimated the announcement of the discoveries. At a recent briefing to the press, John Malcolm, Managing Director of PDO, had expressed his confidence that "there are still some oil and gas fields out there that remain to be discovered", not only close to existing infrastructure but also in the more remote parts of PDO's concession area.Speaking today specifically of the four discoveries, Mr Malcolm said: "This is a very important result for PDO and its shareholders.

Such discoveries, whose ultimate reserves can be measured in perhaps tens rather than hundreds of millions of barrels, will nonetheless provide valuable robustness to our production levels in the medium term. It is also great to see that the discoveries are rapidly hooked up for development and are already contributing to the oil production of the company in the short term."Dr Martin Stauble, Exploration Director of PDO, commented: "I am extremely pleased with these discoveries, which directly resulted from high-quality technical work based on state-of-the-art seismic analyses and other data not available in earlier exploration campaigns. Several follow-up opportunities have been identified, and we will pursue those aggressively."

The highly-rated 23-year-old has signed a three-and-a-half-year contract, subject to international clearance. But lately an Omani was caught red handed when he passed a car which had a yellow plate (private) only to find out that it was indeed an ROP car as the plate on the back of the car was of ROP.Excellent trick. Makes you wonder though, are these speed RADAR meant to reduce the traffic or are they meant so that the ROP can suck you dry. I would vouch for the latter one, the road in question is the 1000 KM on towards SALAH, and who in his right mind would drive 120 KM/HR in that road.
